Visa for Romanian citizens
Romanian citizens can travel without a visa, for a maximum of 90 days in a six-month period of time, to the Netherlands and the Dutch Caribbean Area (Aruba, Curaçao, Sint Maarten, Bonaire, Sint Eustatius and Saba).
For any period over 90 days in 6 months, Romanian citizens must report themselves to the local Municipality in the Netherlands for information about obtaining a residence permit. For the Dutch Caribbean Area, please contact Embassy for applicable procedures.
As far as the access to the labour market is concerned, the Dutch government has decided to continue, until the 1st of January 2014, the obligation for employers to arrange for a work permit (tewerkstellingsvergunning – TWV) for work carried out by Romanian citizens. The work permit is issued by the Labour Office in the Netherlands.
Visa for non-Romanian citizens

B. Schengen Visa Application
The visa applications are accepted on Mondays, Tuesdays and Thursdays between 09:00 - 12:00 hours at Aleea Alexandru nr. 20, Sector 1, Bucharest.

A Schengen visa is valid for all the Schengen countries (Austria, Belgium, Czech Republic, Denmark, Estonia, Finland, France, Germany, Greece, Hungary, Iceland, Italy, Latvia, Liechtenstein, Lithuania, Luxembourg, Malta, Norway, Poland, Portugal, Slovakia, Slovenia, Spain, Sweden, Switzerland and the Netherlands), but can only be issued by the Embassy of the country of main destination.
If several Schengen countries are visited during one trip and the length of the stay in each country is equal, the visa should be obtained at the Embassy of the Schengen country that will be entered first.
The applications have to be submitted in person, at least 15 calendar days before the intended visit.
The visa fee is 60 Euro, is paid at the counter of the Consular Section, in cash Euro, after the acceptance of the application and is not refundable irrespective of the final decision on the visa application.
For citizens of the following nationalities the visa fee is 35 Euro: Albania, Bosnia, Georgia, Macedonia, Moldova, Montenegro, Russia, Serbia and Ukraine.
Presentation of the following documents is a condition for handling the visa application, but is no guarantee for obtaining the visa. If necessary, the Embassy may ask for further documents or information:
List of Documents
All documents must be presented in original and 1 photocopy of each!
1. Passport:
• valid at least 3 months after the expiry of the visa that is asked for;
• any old, cancelled passports.
2. Residence permit for Romania:
• valid until the expiry of the visa that is asked for.

5. Proof of transport:
• a return ticket reservation with confirmed dates; the original ticket can be required after submitting the application;
• if travelling by car: car papers, a green card and the driving license should be shown; for a business car or a car belonging to a third person, a legalized authorization of the owner should be shown; if a third person will drive, a declaration from the driver and a copy of his passport.
6. Travel medical insurance (concluded with “Generali” or “Omniasig”):
• valid for the whole period of the trip and the whole Schengen-space, mentioning the purpose (business or tourism) and covering a minimum of € 30.000, without any limit.

7. An invitation from a company in the Netherlands on official company paper:
• in original only;
• the invitation must state the name of the person invited, as well as the exact dates and a description of the reason of the visit, the accommodation during the visit (hotel reservation or with referent) and the following guarantee (in Dutch or in English): "....(name of the company) guarantees all the costs for the Dutch State and other public institutions that may result during the stay of ....(the applicant's name) in the Schengen States".
8. For employees
• a letter from the employer on official company paper, stating the name of the employee, his/her function in the company and the reason for the trip to the Netherlands on behalf of the company.
• work permit for Romania.
• work contract.
9. For company owners
• the Registration Certificate and a recent Certificat Constatator from the Chamber of Commerce;
• proof of solvability of the company (the original company bank statements over the last 3 months).
On collection of the visa, a proof of payment for hotel or ticket may be requested for.
For visiting friends/relatives:
7. An invitation from a private person in the Netherlands
• in original only;
• not older than 3 months;
• issued and legalized by the Dutch town-hall;
• the invitation must state the name of the person invited, the exact dates of the visit and guarantee for the stay in the Netherlands and return to the country of origin or long term residence.
8. Marriage certificate (if the applicant is married).
9. Professional documents, according to the occupation:
a. For company owners (see list below)

c. For students/pupils (see list below)

• the Registration Certificate and a recent Certificat Constatator from the Chamber of Commerce;
b. For employees
• vacation declaration from the employer;
• work permit for Romania;
• work contract.

• student/pupil identity card, signed and stamped;
• vacation declaration from the school;
• for minors, written approval + copies of the passports of the parents.
* In this case, the Embassy needs the authorization of the Visa Service Office in the Netherlands. This takes a minimum of 30 days or longer.
On collection of the visa, a proof of payment for ticket may be requested for.
For tourism:
7. Confirmation of a reservation by a hotel in the Netherlands;
8. Proof of sufficient financial means:
• EUR 34,-per person/per day in Traveller’s cheques or an account overview of the last 3 months.

Airport transit visa
Third country citizens who, by nationality, are required to possess an airport transit visa for the Schengen States, are exempted from this requirement if they are holders of a Romanian residence permit.
