Canada is a technologically advanced nation and there are many opportunities for IT professionals. To obtain a work visa, however, applicants must already have a job offer in the country as IT is not one of the 29 professions exempt from arranged employment under the Federal Skilled Worker scheme. To be eligible the employer must have already proved to the authorities that they cannot find anyone with your skills locally. Once this has been approved the applicant can apply for a work visa. To do so, the applicant must submit a medical certificate and give details of any criminal history. In addition, they must undergo an interview to prove that they speak on of Canada’s two official languages: English or French.
